Here we go again

December 9, 2008

Another week has begun and since I’m writing this Tuesday morning, it’s already a fifth over!

I had a great run at the gym after work – 8.46km, or 5.1m for FitnessNYC’s running challenge. I am definitely motivated to run longer, knowing that I want to see a good number logged on the Google spreadsheet!

For dinner, I kept it easy – soup and a sandwich.

My sandwich had turkey, Swiss, green pepper (sliced thinly… great for crunch!) and mustard, and the soup was my homemade butternut squash.

Then, I might have had some shortbread… and maybe some red and green jelly beans… but I was working hard, researching our possible January trip. I’ll keep you posted!!

Gotta run now – hope you have a great day!

Where were we…

December 7, 2008

I had a great day yesterday – haircut, hanging out at my parents’ with our dog, getting a few small things (soap dispenser, wrapping paper)…

Graham was in town around 5:45 and we headed to the party soon after. What a fun night!!! So much laughing, good food and amazing friends.

We had somewhat of a lazy morning today. Here was breakfast…

And then maybe another half 🙂

Here was today’s advent gift… the package on the back!

Holiday muffin papers! Thank you Santa! 🙂

Graham and I went to his parents’ to lunch, then to get our tree!

Graham went back to Sarnia, so I was on my own with the tree. I felt like I was smuggling a dead body into the building… I don’t know if we are allowed a real tree, so it was a little dicy. I only saw one person from the car to the door – the son of a neighbour.

I won’t photograph the tree yet, because we don’t have any ornaments up. We’ll decorate it when Graham’s home.

The evening’s been quiet – 5.1 mile run, quick trip to Canadian Tire, dinner, laundry, Amazing Race, shortbread cookies.

Sorry for the blur. That’s meatloaf that we made on the cooking spree weekend and froze, as well as sweet potato and raw veggie salad.

Guess that’s all for now. Hope you had a great weekend too!

Sans photo

November 3, 2008

Evening all! Graham went to Sarnia today, for some work stuff and to find an apt. He is staying overnight there and took my camera to take photos to bring back to me – alas, no food pics tonight!

After a long day, I had lots of energy for a speedy run.

For dinner, I had defrosted turkey chili and some pumpernickle bread on the side. After dinner snacks were a cookie, some Skittles (Halloween sized treat) and 4 jujubes. Being on my own in the evenings, I tend to snack alot… it’s going to be hard for me to keep that in-check. I think I will use the blog as a way of noting my snacks, especially. Probably no photo, just the checkpoint of having to mark it down.

Anyway, sorry for the food-free post! For all my loyal American blog readers, be sure to vote tomorrow! And for all of us – make sure you have tomorrow night free to sit like a lump and watch CNN!! We are looking forward to it! 🙂

Night

PS – Monday is done for this week… yay!

PPS – Forgot to add… check out Tina’s salad! Craisins, pumpkin seeds and feta are making the rounds. Try this out – it makes a very tasty salad!

Sarah alone = Sarah neurotic

September 20, 2008

Last night I most certainly had a snack!

And I most certainly had a second cookie! 🙂

While I was watching tv, the blinds on our big living room window were partially open. I’m just sitting there and suddenly a laser pointer is on the tv wall, moving around. I thought – hmm, very strange and weird. About 5 minutes later it happened again. I turned off the tv, turned off the lights, shut the blinds, then went back to the tv. I thought it was really weird, but I wasn’t all that freaked out. Until I went to bed, that is. Then, I started at the ceiling in fear! lol It was brutal! I fell asleep fairly quickly, thank goodness!

This morning, I woke up – fine, obviously! I went for a run, but because I was alone with no one to talk to, I thought about work the entire run. It was brutal! I couldn’t get my mind on anything else. This is where the blog title comes in – Sarah alone = Sarah neurotic!! Last night, with the laser pointer, then this morning and thinking of only work. So, I’ve tried to distract myself as much as possible. First, with breakfast.

Then, with the tv and computer.

I’m sitting at the table, with the tv turned towards me. And see the big picture window? That’s where the laser pointer was coming from, from the other building somewhere. Ok, I need to stop talking about that laser pointer!! I’m making myself sound crazy!!

One last note – I had tea with my breakfast this morning. That is because I don’t really know how to work our sophisticated coffee system. This is what it looks like:

See, I had the milk container and my cup and saucer all ready. But then I realized that I haven’t watched Graham use the new grinder (it’s the replacement one that we got on Wednesday). And after that, I was just too lazy to figure it out! So, it was tea instead. (By the way – the cappuccino maker is Graham’s most prized possession! He is coffee obsessed!)

Now I am off to Yorkdale to try and beat the crowds (though it’s a little later than I would have liked – will already be busy, I’m sure), then to the Beer Store for bottle returns, to the store for groceries and toiletries, etc… Then I’ll see! I’ve got to stop at my parents before the engagement party tonight, so I might do a little baking and cooking this afternoon, or watch a movie. See you for lunch!
