Hump day happiness

October 1, 2008

Another busy day around these parts. Work, then spinning, then home to make dinner. Graham came home tonight, so we made dinner together. He was in the mood for something “warm”…

Chicken, that was braised (I guess) with onions, carrots, herbs, etc. On the side, sweet potatoes (which he enjoyed!) and salad.

Then, for dessert, Graham’s sister made us a pear crumble.

Totally did not need that, nor the gummy worm that followed. But that’s enough for tonight. Might watch tv, or read more. My sister is chomping at the bit for Eclipse, but I just haven’t had enough time to read.

Night!

Dinner, sort of

September 18, 2008

I know what I have been doing to my camera… leaving it on after I put the photos on my computer. It then drains the battery and I realize when I want to use it, like to photograph dinner! So, you’ll have to settle with this…

Roasted chicken thighs with couscous and zucchini. Tasty! I also roasted tomatoes with oregano. I wish I had a photo!

Graham is going away for the weekend, so I made these cookies from Smitten Kitchen. I do have photos of the cookies though!

I was on the phone, so they over cooked a little. But they taste great!

Graham stole half the gummy worm. đŸ™‚

Tomorrow’s Friday – can’t wait. Well, more specifically, can’t wait til the end of the day and the start of the weekend. I have an engagement/house warming party, shopping to do, long run to run and other misc. things. Wish me a good day tomorrow!!

Sorry guys…

No pictures to post at all!

Yesterday was so much fun. I had an amazing day with my work team, but no photos… We did canoeing, geo-caching, archery and mountain biking! All that after a 15k on Sunday. And… the girls I work with are super-competitive – no one wants to be second! For food, we had a BBQ with angus burgers, cheese and avocado, pasta salad, cut veggies… yum! We also had two-bite brownies and then a campfire! S’mores… yum again! I wasn’t home until around 10:30, tired and sore.

Then, on to today. The day was so busy at work. I didn’t take any food photos because my food wasn’t that exciting. I was excited for dinner. But then my camera was in the car and Graham was out in the car! For dinner, I had quesadillas! That was one of two standard meals for me the last two years of university. Quesadillas or a bagel. Ok, I’ll explain both.

Quesadillas – I take two small wraps, place small pieces of green pepper, cut cherry tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese on one side of each, fold them over and bake in the oven. Then, for the last few minutes, I turn the oven to broil. Eating that brought back so many memories!

Bagels – at the Fortino’s near my house in Hamilton, they baked Montreal-style bagels. A pretty close version too! I would have a toasted bagel with cream cheese.

Those were my two lunches for two years, basically! What good memories.

So, again, sorry for the lack of dinner pictures. But Graham is now home, so here is one to leave you with – dessert!

Pictures tomorrow, I promise! Night!

Delay…

August 29, 2008

Well, we are here at the airport. A bird flew into one of the plane’s engines on its way to Ottawa (the flight was then coming to Toronto, then our flight to Winnipeg), so our flight is delayed two hours. We are scheduled to depart at 23:42, meaning we won’t get to Winnipeg ’til about 1:15 (2:15 TO time, then have to get a cab, etc). Yikes, that’s a long night!

We had a nice dinner with Graham’s parents and sister and three nephews and had salmon, salad and baguette. Now here at the airport, I’ve had more fuzzy peaches and kolac – a Czech desert that Graham’s dad makes. Sorry for the half eaten piece!

And here is Graham!

What a cheesy smile! (You can see the fuzzy peach bag next to him…)

We bought an hour of internet so that we could change our car rental, so this is kind of an added benefit of being delayed – catching up on blogs!

**Forgot to mention: I didn’t get my sunglasses! They had the wrong pair in the wrong box. It was the same style, but black. And I don’t want black! đŸ˜¦ I will continue to hunt them down next week, or order online I guess…
